Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this study was to research the donation pages of successful non-profit organizations, in order to create a design prototype of a new donation page. The research and the particular method should also have the effect of the researched non-profit gaining knowledge in regard to donation pages’ designs and best practices.
Participatory Action Research was applied, as the researcher conducted the research internally, for the non-profit organization, and it ultimately resulted in the creation of knowledge. Moreover, the Double Diamond from Design Thinking was used, in order to streamline the creation of the design prototype.
The researcher discovered several patterns in the donation pages, which he coded and categorized. These patterns revealed how a donation page should be designed, but also what kind of mistakes should be avoided. The researcher created several initial prototypes, out of which a final design for the new donation page was created. The prototype as well as the learnings from the research were discussed with other stakeholders of the non-profit and knowledge was exchanged.
The non-profit organization has profited from the knowledge created by this research. Moreover, several side projects, as well as a follow up cycle of research for the new donation page have been planned.
