Tiivistelmä
The thesis has been carried out in cooperation with a global logistics company and a material handling equipment supplier. The work focuses on the development and management of supplier relationships, on improving communication, collaboration, and the allocation of responsibilities.
The main objective of the study was to develop and improve the maturity of the supplier relationship in terms of communication, cooperation, and allocation of responsibilities. This included concrete measures to clarify responsibilities and improve the quality of communication between the two organisations.
The research was conducted using a qualitative action research approach, including observations, questionnaires, and a current state analysis. The development project was structured around a theoretical framework for supplier relationship management and supplier relationship development.
The results of the research showed that systematic development and commitment led to significant improvements in communication and collaboration. Clearer allocation of responsibilities and re-organisation of communication practices reduced work hours and improved cost-effectiveness. The reduction in working hours and clearer processes also had a positive impact on staff job satisfaction.
The research highlights the importance of open and clear communication and well-defined responsibilities for effective supplier relationship management. The work demonstrates the importance of understanding and developing these elements as part of a wider strategic approach.
