Tiivistelmä
The goal of this final year project was to adjust and improve the company website built during the work placement period. The website would provide information for visitors of a company and its services. The project would include a functionality where users can get static information as well as leave comments and feedback, resulting in communication and social functions.
The project was to build a content management system (CMS) website using the Joomla CMS that is an open source software. The project required knowledge and skills in different areas of web development that was obtained during the work placement and developing websites aside studies. In this project PHP language, MySQL database, HTML language, CSS language was used to build website and modify code to suit the requrements.
In this thesis aside from Joomla CMS different content management system tools were considered such as Drupal and WordPress. Also hosting and server solutions were discussed. The configuration of a back-end and front-end was covered in this thesis as well as some issues faced when troubleshooting. The result of the project was to create a website using components and modules using Joomla CMS.
Many new skills were improved during this project. Planning a project model, managing time schedule, meeting the requirements of the project, configuration the Joomla CMS and the server from the scratch.
