This thesis aims to review and analyse the determinant factors in the shifting of the automotive towards electrification in Europe, while considering a new paradigm and transformation of the market and the agents involved.
The first part presents an introduction to the topic and addresses the key questions and limitations of the research. Secondly, a comprehensive literature review is presenting the theories, strategic analysis tools and methodology implemented in the study.
The third point extensively presents and provides a detailed microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis of the topic using a diverse array of strategic management tools and explaining the geopolitical involvement in the industry. Following, a list of challenges and risks associated to the process is showcased and discussed, as well as new concepts and opportunities that surge in this context. Lastly, two comparative case studies of success and failure to electrify are exposed to contrast and identify the differences in the results.
To finish, the drawn conclusions from the research and study are exhibited in the fourth section.
