Tiivistelmä
This text discusses the importance of quality work instructions and the role of standardization to ensure product safety and quality. The focus of the thesis is to investigate and propose strategies for improving work instruction quality and improve performance execution within the organization. The thesis project was commissioned by Thermo Fisher Scientific, aiming to create and implement new work instructions and analyze their effectiveness. The objective was to gain a good understanding of the impact of effective work instructions while conducting practical analyses.
The work was implemented in tight collaboration with colleagues. The production workers were interviewed, and a new work instruction template was created based on their feedback.
The goal for the new template was to create a version of the work instructions with a layout that is easier to read and reduces the probability of human error. The template was created by highlighting the key elements of successful work instructions and de-signing a sustainable layout that is easily updatable.
In conclusion, a high-quality work instruction template was made and implemented. It greatly improved assembly time and quality, the risk of human error was reduced by a considerable amount and the work satisfaction of the employees increased significantly.
