Tiivistelmä
This thesis investigates the landscape of immigrant entrepreneurship in Finland, focusing on the challenges faced by foreigners who aspire to pursue entrepreneurship or are already actively engaged in entrepreneurial activities. It examines how these individuals navigate the Finnish business environment and explores the opportunities for economic growth, social integration, and alternatives to unemployment. The study includes a literature review, an analysis of the current situation for immigrants in Finland, and research questions that specifically address immigrants from non-European countries and those who have obtained Finnish citizenship after arriving in Finland. The questions of this research are in the areas of economic, sociological, anthropological, and political issues related to the topic. The research methodology involves conducting two qualitative interviews and analyzing the data to complement the findings from the literature review. Key findings highlight the significance of legislative changes in facilitating foreign investment and entrepreneurship in Finland, as well as the role of organizations in providing essential resources and advocacy for immigrant-owned businesses. Despite these efforts, persistent challenges such as language barriers, limited access to funding, and cultural differences impact the ability of immigrant entrepreneurs to establish and grow their ventures.
Overall, the research identifies opportunities for collaboration and improvement. It emphasizes the need for policy interventions to address systemic barriers, enhance access to information and funding, and promote cultural diversity and integration within the Finnish business community. By leveraging the talents and innovation of immigrant entrepreneurs, Finland can foster economic growth, social cohesion, and a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem.
