In today's complex and ever-evolving global commerce landscape, the importance of supply chain management (SCM) cannot be overstated. As organizations face escalating challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, the COVID-19 pandemic, and climate-related disruptions, the critical role of supply chain resilience is more apparent than ever. Recognizing the shift from an efficiency-driven to a resilience-focused approach, this study explores the dynamics of supply chain disruptions and effective inventory management principles in enhancing resilience.
Drawing from an extensive literature review and qualitative studies involving interviews with seasoned SCM professionals, the study of thesis explores the root causes of supply chain vulnerabilities and their impact, as well as successful inventory management principles. By adopting a qualitative approach, the study offers an in-depth analysis of diverse perspectives and strategies from industry practitioners, emphasizing inventory management's role in driving supply chain resilience.
The study underscores the importance of proactively managing supply chain risks through strategic inventory management, agility, and swift adaptation to unexpected disruptions. Recommended strategies involve adopting hybrid inventory models, diversifying supplier networks, and utilizing technology for real-time analytics. The thesis study affirms that efficient SCM and resilient inventory practices are crucial for businesses to succeed in the complex global market. It contributes valuable insights to the broader comprehension of supply chain resilience, providing practical guidance to navigate disruptions and maintain operational continuity and competitiveness.
