Company X is operating in financial field. They have made social responsibility as part of their corporate strategy. Part of that social responsibility strategy is volunteering program where employees can annually spend up to 14 hours of paid time to work towards various volunteering opportunities.
Company X commissioned this thesis. The commission was to research and develop volunteering program from coaching mentoring point of view. Employees participating in volunteering program might not be professionals coaches or mentors. Coaching and mentoring characteristics and tools were researched to provide development suggestions for the volunteering program.
Theoretical framework explores various literature sources to form an understanding of coaching and mentoring as a whole. Coaching and mentoring practices and tools are explored in order to make volunteering program development suggestions.
A case study was done to research the program through personnel familiar with the subject. The research included secondary data analysis, thematised interviews and questionnaire. Secondary data analysis included discussion on the internal material of Company X to form an overview of the program. Interviews were held with personnel familiar with the program and the results were thematised. Questionnaire was aimed at the personnel participating in the volunteering program.
Discussion chapter discusses the finding and combines the research with theoretical framework to form development suggestions relevant to the Company X goals. Conclusion discusses ethics, reliability and further research ideas.
