This thesis was commissioned by the Lapland University of Applied Sciences. The purpose of this thesis was to make an educational video about the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis and high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). International nursing students at Lapland University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and other University of Applied Science can potentially use this to deepen their understanding of diabetic ketoacidosis.
The purpose of the thesis is to make an educational video about diabetes ketoacidosis with the aim of helping international nursing students at Lapland University of Applied Sciences in understanding the condition.
The thesis report is categorized into three parts, the theory part, the implementation part, and the evaluation part. The theory part consists of information about diabetes mellitus, types, and diagnosis. It also contains information about diabetic ketoacidosis, the use of the ABCDE approach in assessing diabetic ketoacidosis, the management of diabetic ketoacidosis, and other complications of diabetic mellitus. The implementation part consists of the video where the simulation of a patient's case scenario was performed. In the evaluation section, the whole thesis process was assessed to reflect on the hole thesis process.
The video was shot at the Lapland University of Applied Sciences campus in Kemi and it was edited using the Capcut application. Voiceover was used to explain the different phases and procedures in the video. The video will be downloaded on the YouTube channel of the Lapland University of Applied Sciences to be potentially used by teachers and students as a teaching aid.
