Tiivistelmä
This research explores how Kenya’s textile and fashion industries adopt the circular economy, a system that minimizes waste and maximizes resource reuse. The study uncovers the current adoption level, main barriers, and motivating factors for this shift, drawing from literature and case studies from Nairobi’s Gikomba market, Africa Collect Textiles, Purfi, East Africa’s textile industry, and global brands like H&M, Nudie Jeans, Patagonia, and Reformation.
The research also evaluates how laws impact the integration of the circular economy. The findings provide insights into the challenges and opportunities for implementing circular practices in Kenya’s textile and fashion industries and offer practical recommendations for promoting sustainability. The study emphasizes the need for collaboration among industry stakeholders, decision-makers, and consumers to foster a more resilient and sustainable textile and apparel business in Kenya.
