Tiivistelmä
In today's globalized business environment, efficient supply chain management is essential for organizational success. This thesis, conducted as a project-based bachelor’s thesis within the Degree Programme in International Business at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, focused on improving supply chain logistics at BMH Technology Oy through supplier evaluation from a logistical viewpoint. The research aims to identify strengths and areas for development within the company's supply chain logistics by assessing supplier performance, reliability, and capabilities.
The study begins with a comprehensive theoretical framework, incorporating concepts such as supplier relationship management, supply base segmentation, supplier performance measure-ment and sustainable supply chain management. Subsequently, through interviews with end-users and company management, key factors affecting the efficiency of BMH Technology Oy's supply chain logistics are identified and also objective goals of the company. These factors, both direct and indirect, form the basis for creating a supplier evaluation template tailored to the com-pany's specific needs and operations.
This project contributes to the body of knowledge in supplier logistics by providing a structured approach to conducting a logistical audit and fostering resilient and agile supply chains. While the project does not proceed to the evaluation phase of the company's suppliers, it lays the ground-work for future assessments. The focus remains solely on the logistical services and capabilities of the company's supply base.
This thesis resulted in the development of a supplier performance evaluation tool. The developed tool allows the case company to assess its suppliers' performance in terms of the most crucial criteria, take preventative measures, and enhance the company's overall performance and abil-ity to achieve its organizational goals. Supplier performance evaluation drives supply chain opti-mization through targeted development programs, strategic contract negotiations, risk manage-ment integration, and continuous improvement initiatives, supported by real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making.
