In this study the aim is to find the status of the artificial intelligence in the project management area. This study is a literature review. There is research available on the project management technique / process point of view, but there is not research completed on the project manager competence view-point. For that reason, IPMA individual competence baseline were utilized as a framework. The research question is to find out, by using competence approach, in what project management areas AI could, now or near future, contribute to the project manager ‘s work.
In this study AI is shortly described, but not limited. From the research point of view the narrow, general or super intelligence is included . As said as the project management framework IPMA individual competence baseline is used.
The result of this study can be summarized: Regarding the ICB competence area practice, there are definitely evidence in research articles that AI can be utilized, but the competence areas people and perspective the evidence is much narrower.
