This thesis aimed to investigate and collect tourism employee experiences in the recruitment process in Lapland. The commissioner of the thesis was Company X, operating in the personnel service industry. The commissioner's seasonal tourism employees in Lapland were the research target group. In addition, as part of the background analysis, the thesis discovered the operations of the recruitment process in Lapland's tourism season 2023–2024 in Company X.
A qualitative research method was used to conduct the research in the spring of 2024. A survey, in the form of an electronic questionnaire, was addressed to the employees. The respondents were employees who worked in the customer companies of the commissioner in various tourism industry positions in Finnish Lapland during the winter season of 2023–2024. A total of 18 responses were received. In addition, a semi-structured theme interview was conducted with three recruitment experts of Company X as a background analysis.
Based on the research, the recruitment process for the tourism season in Lapland was very successful in Company X. Employees, responding to the survey, were highly satisfied with the recruitment process in general. The results are expected to bring insights to the commissioner on which part of the recruitment has been especially successful. In addition, the results present where improvements could be completed to maintain high-quality recruitment satisfaction when recruiting for the tourism season in Lapland.
