Despite all the obstacles the Covid lockdown is causing them, four kids embark on a quest to find proof of what they witnessed during an online class: The cat of their maths teacher can talk.
Synopsis
It’s Covid lockdown. During the break of a boring online lesson, teacher MISS POTMAN (32) fails to turn off her laptop microphone. Two kids hear their teacher start a conversation with her cat JUNO (3). And to their surprise, the cat answers. With human words.
KALAI (12) takes the lead in an ambitious investigation. With AMIR (11), ELIAS (12) and LOTTE (12) by her side, she’s going to prove the cat can speak. At home, each kid is dealing with the consequences of the lockdowns. Financial problems, fear of infecting a grandmother, being stuck between fighting parents and overwhelming loneliness. Luckily the kids know they can solve these problems all by themselves and jump straight into the adventure anyway.
When the kids break into their teacher’s house, Kalai catnaps Juno on a whim. She does this without consulting the others, which provokes tension in the group. As they try and fail to make Juno speak while hiding her in Kalai’s bedroom, they find out taking care of this special cat doesn’t match with their complicated home situations. Stress escalates for each of them and causes a falling out among the kids. Juno ends up at Lotte’s house and everybody is on their own again.
Only when Juno encourages Lotte to reconnect with the others one by one, the kids learn to understand that dealing with problems is a lot easier when you can share your feelings with friends. Finally realising the importance of honesty and connection, they bring Juno back to miss Potman.
Just as the kids are moving on from believing Juno will ever talk to them, the cat has a final thing to say.
