Tiivistelmä
The hospitality industry is constantly including elements of play into their services to adults looking for engaging experiences. This thesis explores the potential of establishing a game night bar in Helsinki, Finland. It is aimed at providing adults with a space to reconnect with their inner child through activities.
Grounded in the psychological benefits of play and collective nostalgia, the study emphasizes the therapeutic and social value for mental well-being and community building. The research includes a business plan, using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and SWOT analysis, to evaluate the feasibility of the concept. Key activities include themed game nights, creative workshops and interactive games - all designed to create a playful and inclusive environment. A market analysis shows the gap in the hospitality sector for adult play spaces, with competitors like Café Boardgame, Maalausbaari, and Arkade Bar offering related but different experiences. A prototype workshop was conducted to test the business concept, followed by interviews to gather feedback on its appeal. The findings suggest a strong market interest in gamified leisure spaces that aim for creativity and social interaction.
