This study explores strengths and barriers faced by secondary school teachers in Slovakia as they work to integrate entrepreneurial mindsets and skills into their classrooms. With entrepreneurial education becoming increasingly important for preparing students for an innovation-driven economy, this research emphasises the role of teachers as catalysts of
change and contributes to understanding how entrepreneurial education can be incorporated into secondary schools.
Using qualitative methods with secondary school teachers from diverse regions, teaching experiences and across teaching subjects, the study provides insights into their practices, motivations, and challenges. The findings show that teachers participating in the study employ
cognitive constructivism in their classrooms, as well as elements of experiential teaching methods like project-based learning and design thinking to foster entrepreneurial mindsets and skills. Preparing students for life is the key driver for teachers to include self-efficacy, recognising
opportunities and networking skills into their classes. The study identifies key enabling factors, such as helpful teachers' mindsets, supportive school cultures and access to external networks. However, barriers such as limited collaboration, inadequate resources and insufficient professional development hinder broader implementation of entrepreneurial education.
