Private jet handling in Lapland : Defining the critical factors for a new VIP ground handling company

Abstract

The growth of private ground handling services for private jets in Finnish Lapland is increasingly vital due to rising demand from high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and the region’s expanding tourism. This thesis examines the unique aspects of private jet ground handling services in Lapland, focusing on Rovaniemi, Kittilä, and Ivalo airports, with an emphasis on market dynamics, operational factors, competition, and sustainability. The study also considers the strategic positioning of Airpro Premium, in response to these trends. Data was collected from industry reports, interviews, and competitive analysis to assess how effectively private jet ground handling services cater to the region's growing tourism and meet the needs of a niche, luxury client base. Findings indicate that, while significant opportunities exist for service providers in terms of high-end tourism growth, several challenges, including environmental regulations and resource constraints, pose potential risks. This thesis concludes with recommendations on enhancing operational reliability, sustainable practices, and client relationship management to strengthen competitive advantage.
