Taking the export industry in agriculture from India to the world, this thesis seeks to solve problem issues and identify possible benefits for India. It looks at why India ranks ninth in agricultural exports even though it is the world’s third-largest nation producing agricultural products. From India’s independence to the Green Revolution and economic liberalisation, this thesis investigates India's agrarian past, emphasising the sector's importance on domestic consumption and food security.
Important problems are poor infrastructure, lack of technology acceptance, insufficient awareness of quality standards, hygienic and phytosanitary rules and government policy voids. The report also underlines the need for farming corporatisation and precision farming to improve export performance. Moreover, the study looks at government subsidies, laws, and the necessity of producer groups overcoming obstacles. The thesis ends by discussing these problems and how both private and state actors together can greatly raise India's agricultural exports, thus promoting economic development.
