Tiivistelmä
Italy, 2001. BENITO “BEN” RUSSO (27) is an Italian idealist. He hates Silvio Berlusconi and would like to be a revolutionary, but he’s stuck teaching English to middle-graders. He’s married to SOFIA AMINOFF (24), a Finnish university student who no longer shares his idealism after discovering she is pregnant.

EUGENIO (28), an old comrade from their university days, comes back into their lives. Eugenio has become a revolutionary and asks Ben to become his right hand. Sofia is also invited, but she declines. She asks Ben to stay with her but won’t tell him about the pregnancy. Ben chooses ideology over love, dumps Sofia, and joins Eugenio in their den in the mountains.

After successfully bombing one of Berlusconi’s TV antennas, Ben gets cocky, and they are discovered. Eugenio must flee the country. Ben returns to civilian life without consequences and becomes a journalist.

Four years later, Ben is invited to cover Berlusconi’s visit to Finland. Ben meets Sofia, who is now managing a farm. Eugenio lives there, too: she helped him escape and get a new identity. Ben thinks they’re lovers, and the 3-year-old TAMARA is Eugenio’s, not his.

Eugenio asks Ben to join him in a big operation: kidnapping Berlusconi. This time Sofia is also involved, and the two lovers rekindle. Ben finds his old revolutionary spirit, accepts his role in the plan. What Ben doesn’t know is that Sofia has orchestrated his entire visit to Finland to test him. She believes Eugenio’s plan is delusional and won’t work. She wants is a family with Ben, but she needs to be sure he won’t choose again ideology over love.

Ben initially goes along with the plan, which unexpectedly seems to pan out. But before the moment comes, Ben realises that Tamara is his daughter. He purposely botches the kidnapping, gets arrested, and takes the entire blame to save Sofia. Ben chose love by means of an ideological act. Eugenio escapes to Latin America. Sofia and Tamara visit Ben in jail, they are a family now. And Ben’s daughter looks up to him as a hero.
