This bachelor thesis is a comprehensive overview of Nmap, a powerful network discovery and security auditing tool widely used in cybersecurity. The primary goal is to describe Nmap’s functions and the underlying technology it operates on.
The thesis starts with an introduction to the TCP/IP protocol suite. Because it’s essential to understand TCP/IP structure, in order to use the Nmap tool effectively.
The thesis will contain informative analysis of Nmap’s various scan and discovery methods by support of real-life examples.
The objective of this thesis is to provide documentation for Nmap’s capabilities.
