Proteesien omahoito : opetusvideo korkeakouluopiskelijoille

Abstract

Proteeseja käyttävillä potilailla on havaittu olevan puutteita proteesien omahoitoon liittyvissä tiedoissa ja taidoissa. Suun terveydenhuollon ammattilaisten tarjoamalle oikealle tiedolle on tarvetta. Suun terveydenhuollon ammattilaisilla on vastuu opastaa ja ohjata potilasta oikeaoppiseen suun omahoitoon. Hyvällä proteesien omahoidolla varmistetaan proteettisen hoidon onnistuminen ja ylläpidetään hyvää yleis- ja suunterveyttä.

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa opetusvideo proteesien omahoidosta Oulun ammattikorkeakoulun suuhygienistiopiskelijoille ja Oulun yliopiston hammaslääketieteen opiskelijoille. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa tutkimusnäyttöön perustuvaa opetusmateriaalia proteesien omahoidosta havainnollistavalla tavalla, josta suuhygienisti- ja hammaslääketieteenopiskelijat hyötyvät opinnoissaan ja tulevassa työssään.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä, jonka toimeksiantajana toimii Oulun yliopiston hammaslääketieteen tutkinto-ohjelmavastaava, dosentti, EHL Ritva Näpänkangas. Opinnäytetyön perustana toimii kattava tietoperusta, joka koostuu kotimaisista ja kansainvälisistä alan kirjallisuudesta ja tieteellisistä julkaisuista.

Keräsimme palautetta opetusvideosta Webropol 3.0 -kysely- ja raportointityökalun avulla. Kohderyhmäksi valitsimme suuhygienistiopiskelijat, sillä opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa opetusvideo ensisijaisesti Oulun ammattikorkeakoulun suuhygienistiopiskelijoille. Itse koostetun mittarin kysymykset selvittivät opetusvideolle asetettujen laatukriteerien toteutumista ja opetusvideon hyödynnettävyyttä.

Tavoitteenamme oli luoda opetusvideo, josta tulevat suun terveydenhuollon ammattilaiset saisivat hyvät valmiudet proteettisen potilaan omahoidon ohjaukseen. Kaikki vastaajat kokivat videon hyödyllisenä oman oppimisen kannalta, joten asettamamme tavoite opetusvideon hyödyllisyydestä toteutui.

It has been observed that patients with dental prostheses are lacking knowledge and skills related to dental prostheses self-care. There seems to be a need for correct information provided by dental health care professionals. The professionals working within dental health care have the responsibility to teach patients how to maintain good oral health. With adequate self-care, the success of the dental prosthesis treatment and the maintenance of patient’s systemic and oral health, can be ensured.

The purpose of this thesis was to produce an educational video about the self-care of dental prostheses. The video was intended for dental hygiene students in Oulu University of Applied Sciences and dental students in University of Oulu. In this thesis, the aim was to produce research-based instructional material in a demonstrative way. The goal was that the dental hygiene students and dental students can utilize what they have learnt while studying and working in dental field.

The thesis was carried out as a functional thesis, commissioned by Associate Professor, dental specialist and the dentistry program director, Ritva Näpänkangas, from the University of Oulu. The thesis is based on national and international dental literature and studies.

We gathered feedback from the educational video through Webropol 3.0 survey and reporting tool. As for the target audience, we chose dental hygiene students since the primary aim was to produce an educational video for dental hygiene students in Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The objective of the self-constructed survey aimed to examine the fulfillment of the quality criteria set for the educational video and its usefulness.

Our goal was to create an educational video that would provide future oral health professionals with good skills regarding guiding self-care for prosthetic patients. We achieved our goal of the educational video’s usefulness as all respondents found the video useful for their learning.
