Mobile health applications are revolutionizing paediatric cancer pain management. These applications offer user-friendly tools for monitoring symptoms, tracking medications, and implementing non-pharmacological strategies. The purpose of this thesis was to describe the use of mobile health applications in managing pain among paediatric cancer patients. The aim was to produce new knowledge that could be utilized through mobile health application in paediatric cancer pain management.
The articles were searched using reliable online databases CINAHL, PUBMED and MEDLINE. In the initial phase, articles were searched using keywords and selected by exclusion and inclusion criteria, resulting in 443 articles. 12 articles were selected for the final review. Content analysis was performed for the analysis of the data.
The results of this bachelor’s thesis highlight the fact that mobile health applications were ease of use and accessible and the users were satisfied. Additionally, the result also emphasizes the fact that there were also barriers and challenges of mobile health applications. Mobile health applications like imanage, color me healthy apps, medication adherence app, pain buddy, and smartphone based mobile apps are used to highlight pain management in paediatric cancer.
Mobile health applications offered valuable support for paediatric cancer pain management, providing accessible tools for paediatric patients and caregivers. These mhealth applications would require further studies and development efforts to minimize the barriers and optimize the usability.
