Tiivistelmä
This thesis presents the implementation of the Introduction to Django course as a MOOC for the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (UAS), this course is intended for entry-level students, it combines project-based learning with conceptual evaluations.

The course modules are clearly laid out, each guiding students through the basics of Django concepts such as setting up the development environment and project, creating models and views, managing databases, and implementing user authentication. To reinforce learning, each module ends with quizzes to evaluate the understanding of the basics and ensure that the student grasp the concept before moving on to the next topic of the course. The quizzes play a role of checkpoint that provides quick feedback on students' understanding of the material.

By combining practical skills with conceptual knowledge through quizzes, the needs of students to consolidate their understanding through hands-on experience and theoretical reflection, as well as the integration of quizzes with the project-based approach are addressed. Which ensures active engagement in coding and reflection. Throughout this course, main topics such as Django's Model-View-Template (MVT) architecture, database handling, and web application deployment are highlighted.

Beside the implementation process, this thesis also addresses the design challenges in merging project development with test-based assessment, in order to maintain active engagement and ensuring that the quizzes effectively assess the understanding. Future work can expand on this course by incorporating more advanced Django functionality and providing opportunities by creating small groups assignments to allow students to cooperate and interact with each other.
