Tiivistelmä
Sustainability awareness, engagement, and practices form the content of this thesis with respect to the students at the three 3AMK universities-Haaga-Helia, Laurea, and Metropolia. The research studies the extent to which students are aware of sustainability concepts, identifies obstacles to engagement, and recommends improvement actions. Qualitative, descriptive research design was used and data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with ten students at 3AMK institutions. Thematic analysis showed gaps in awareness, lack of communication, and absence of practical sustainability activities as significant impediments.
Findings reveal that, with increased visibility of sustainability programmes, effective incorporation into the curriculum, and Incentivization through credits/engaging events, student involvement would be greatly stimulated. This research supports further understanding of the role that universities play in becoming the facilitators of sustainability and offers recommendations to achieve a more sustainable and engaged student body as part of global sustainability goals in higher education.
