Music production and the development of technology have evolved together, complementing and benefitting each other. Technology has become increasingly innovative, but the most advanced systems or devices have not always been the ones that have dominated in all work environments.
These developments also had a significant impact on the professional roles that have been performed throughout history and in the way production stages are approached due to the demands of the market. For this reason, being a producer with diverse skills has become a common practice and requires extensive technical, creative, and interpersonal knowledge, as well as a high level of responsibility.
In this thesis, the technical tools and concepts used in a musical production are thoroughly studied and their implementation in the stages of pre-production, recording, editing, and audio processing in the mix are introduced. The objective was to provide a global overview of the historical context of the devices, methodologies used, technical knowledge, and other important considerations needed to tackle any type of project.
As the methodology, the thesis used an extensive bibliography, which includes different points of view from professionals in the sector. It summarizes the most relevant information to address the objectives. This thesis could be used as a guide for all those who simultaneously assume the totality of roles in their projects.
The results obtained show the importance of developing technical knowledge of the historical context, as well as of the tools, techniques, and different phases required to be able to face the projects with greater confidence and efficiency. It was also highlights that adequate technical and human planning can improve the quality of a production.
