The main aim of this research was to describe a nurse's role in giving guidance and care to children who have suffered from bullying. The aim was to contribute to the knowledge of nurses to provide support and guidance.
The serious effects of bullying can create an individual and long-lasting negative impact on the mental health of a person and overall, to the wellbeing of an individual physically, mentally and emotionally. Bullying can cause feelings of lowlevel self-esteem that can destroy a person's character, exclusion from peer groups. The worst scenario can be a strong feeling of rejection, isolation and exclusion. Depending on the invdividual experience of bullying can develop into mental distress such as depression, anxiety and trauma as a result.
The method used in this thesis was a descriptive literature review. The implementation of the study was based on a data search of reliable articles. The study consists of research questions regarding the nurse's role in ways to help children in treating trauma and anxiety caused by bullying.
The analyzing of the data section includes an outline of how literature articles obtained from data collection are synthesized to achieve the goals and objectives of the study. The main goals are addressed. The results of the literature review are presented under the following themes: (a) the effects of bullying on children physically, mentally and emotionally, and (b) better care of children who have experienced bullying with nursing support and guidance.
The findings of this study illustrated that bullying could lead to a wide range of physiological, emotional, physical and mental distress. The results section presents the realization of the research goal.
