Tiivistelmä
In today’s rapidly evolving market, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) increasingly rely on technology consulting services to remain competitive. Supernetwork Limited, the case company, is a newly founded consulting firm that aims to capitalize on this growing demand. How-ever, it currently lacks a concrete business plan for growth. This product-based thesis, commissioned by Supernetwork, aims to develop a foundational business model, a service offering, and a client acquisition strategy to help the company establish a strong market position.
The theoretical framework draws upon established models and frameworks: the Business Model Canvas and Porter’s Five Forces form the basis for the business model and strategy; the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and the McKinsey 7s Framework shape the service offering; and the Customer Journey Map develops the client acquisition strategy. Each framework is explained, alongside practical applications for the business plan.
The empirical section applies the theoretical frameworks to derive practical insights, utilizing both a quantitative survey and a case study. The survey collects primary data on market demand and desirable product features, revealing that multi-sided platforms and tailored business software are the most sought-after solutions across various sectors. The case study reviews a past project between Supernetwork and a client, analyzing the consulting practice and its relevance to the business plan. Key factors for success identified in the case include collaboration, clear communication, transparency, and a shared vision between the organizations.
The final product is a detailed business plan for Supernetwork, developed through a combination of theoretical research, empirical data, and the author’s industry experience. This plan includes a live website, which forms part of the client acquisition strategy and serves as a tangible outcome of the thesis. The product outcome section describes the process of writing the business plan, as well as building the website. The completed business plan is included in the appendix.
The discussion section synthesizes key findings from the research, reflecting on the author's learning experience and the main challenges encountered, along with recommendations for other students pursuing similar topics. It also evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the project, suggests areas for future development, and offers insights into the evolving landscape of technology consulting.
The thesis was completed over ten months, from April to November 2024, encompassing ideation, research, and writing. The findings suggest significant potential for success for Supernet-work in the technology consulting sector, driven by proven business models, a clear service offering, and effective customer relationship management.
