The research is a product-based thesis on integrating new functionality to manage PROM/PREM questionnaire/survey into Tietoevry’s application X. The product of the thesis aims to assist healthcare professionals in monitoring and taking care of patient’s well-being by letting professionals create questionnaires for patients to answer. Patients’ PROs/PREs are reflected through the questionnaires’ results.
The thesis targets all healthcare professionals who are interested in a digital solution that could help them deliver a better quality of care. Moreover, it could also be interesting for software developers or IT enthusiasts who are curious about digital PROM/PREM in the healthcare industry.
The theory framework of the thesis covers the foundational knowledge of health information systems and services in Finland, value-based healthcare, electronic health reports, health-related quality of life as well as PROs/PROMs and PREs/PREMs theories to clarify the reason why the final feature matters and what benefits it brings to the healthcare industry. Moreover, the theory of developing HRQoL instruments will also be mentioned. Besides, technological theories for Javascript/Typescript, MaterialUI, Next.js, Postgraphile, Apollo/GraphQL, Cypress, and Jest will also be discussed.
The technical development process will be discussed in detail at every step in the empirical part, excluding any information that cannot be shared due to confidentiality concerns. The feature has a user-friendly interface that empowers users to execute CRUD operations on questionnaires while also facilitating questionnaire responses.
The study is expected to provide a comprehensive background knowledge of PROMs and PREMs, HRQoL instruments, and a fully functional feature for managing PROM/PREM questionnaires to be integrated into application X.
