Tiivistelmä
For development of any product that is aimed at bringing the best quality and reliability, the testing is crucial, it ensures that the product does indeed perform the way it is intended to perform.

In the field of radio equipment, all the software tests need to be automatic, due to the complexity and size of software and its developing functionality. While developing such software unexpected behaviour might occur and these behaviours must be caught by testcases to let the developers know in time that the fix is needed. To reliably catch such behaviours tests must cover as much code as possible, as many scenarios as possible, and they should run often enough, at least on every change in the code.

For radio equipment to provide high reliability for many users, all the crucial operations in the equipment must happen at the right time. If some operation happens too late or too early, the system will not work in its full potential or not work at all. If possible, it will adapt to more conservative timing to sustain functionality in expense of performance.

To ensure that the timing within the product is correct, the timing tests are being developed. Commonly, they trigger the equipment to start processes with all their timing and outcomes being logged and the timing is being verified based on those logs.

During this thesis, software test that triggers the equipment by sending network packets generated based on pre-captured packets is being developed, the sent packets and their timing is the same as the packets that were originally transmitted. Creating this software test will allow the developers to have easier access to the timing testing of the equipment and will not require extensive work for deployment and maintenance.
