Tiivistelmä
The author of the thesis got a suggestion of a project to automate a real-life work process. After consideration the project was found feasible to produce a viable solution that saves time and produces information about the RPA development with Microsoft Power automated for Desktop.

The process considers fetching data from online sources and importing the data into Microsoft Excel. The project was done with zero budget, and this effected on software and tools of RPA that was used in the development.
The main objectives of the project were to produce a viable automation solution and information about the benefits of RPA automation solution. Neither the development project nor the thesis report considers or discusses the Excel features that were utilized in the Excel file where the data was intended to be imported.

The thesis report provides an introduction and description of the term “business process” to give insight for what it is, what forms a business process and what are the possible benefits of defining and developing processes. The BPMN method of describing a process is introduced for the reader to provide a profound view for the charts of the thesis that depict the automated process that is under developing in the project. The term “RPA” is introduced and described for the reader of the thesis report to explain why the method of RPA was chosen to use for automating the process and what is possible with RPA technology. The Microsoft Power Automate for Desktop -software and some of its main features were introduced.

The organization of the development project was done based on iterations and it reminds Agile model. The development tools or means of process description and development were BPMN notation and Microsoft Power automate for Desktop. The work was done with a flexible schedule.

The project resulted in a viable automation solution, a decreased time of execution of the automated process and insight of a rule of thumb is that do not use UI-elements to define object to work with the actions if the definition is possible to do another way. The method RPA automation is a viable way to automate processes done with a computer. Although, the automation product needs constant maintaining and fixing to work well even after a time.
