Tiivistelmä
In this era of industrialization, humanity has been actively participating in the protection of the environment. This project is related to the production of a spray solution that works as an insulator in the wood manufacturing industry. Traditionally, insulation is done by using normal plastics to protect wood chips and other wood materials from snow, water and rain. With the innovation of bio-based solution for insulation, it has made the
wood making industry more sustainable. The solution is a non-Newtonian fluid which dries to become a good insulator which can replace plastics.
The project’s main aim is to enhance the time taken during the formation of the solution. The main objective of the project is to find alternatives that can be used in the existing manufacturing line which would significantly decrease the cycle time of the production. For this, research was done to study different types of equipment and machinery that has been used in the pulp and paper industry throughout the world. Another aim is concept
creation for modification of current system to enhance and optimize the cycle time.
A list of possible agitators that can be used in the manufacturing line has been created. Optimal choices from the provided list have been recommended for further use. Besides, theoretical relationship between velocity of suspension of solid particles and the diameter of impeller has been established which eased in the decision making of the optimal choices. Alongside this, other recommendations regarding internal structure, environment, technical specification during configuration of the parts etc. have been made to further optimize the cycle time.
