Tiivistelmä
The thesis report concerns the practical implementation of a prototype board, designed to control a cryogenic microwave switch; a device which is used within a cryogenic measurement system to study the nature of qubits, which are an integral part of quantum computing. The execution of the project was supported by Bluefors Oy.
The project consisted of three main parts: research, implementation and testing. The research stage involved selection and analysis of components, followed by validation of their compatibility with the established objectives. This phase also included the evaluation of performance of the selected components, by realizing their typical application circuits on the breadboard. During the implementation stage the schematic of the complete circuit was composed and the printed circuit board (PCB) was designed. Afterwards the board plate was fabricated in Metropolia UAS. In the
testing stage the practicality of the prototype board was evaluated by operating the cryogenic microwave switch within one of the Bluefors’ dilution refrigerators.
The prototype demonstrated the functionality of cryogenic microwave switch control and identified the parts that necessitate improvement.
