Today’s work environment can feel fast-paced, and it is continuously evolving, causing more negative consequences for one’s well-being. Many people spend majority of their lifetime working, ergo the promotion of employee well-being has grown to become one of the crucial aspects of modern organization.
Work well-being is not only about one time well-being initiative or exchanging morning greetings with your colleagues, rather it is a commitment from the organization that serves as a fundament pillar of a thriving individual. A happy employee is the most important resource to the organization.
TyHy-days are becoming more staple in organizations. It is a day designed to support individual’s work well-being through shared activities and experiences. Although TyHy-days are more common, the research on its impact on well-being remains lacking.
This thesis is commissioned by Hoas, a student housing foundation, as a product-based thesis and the aim is obtain better in-sights to plan and execute a TyHy-day for the personnel of Hoas with a help of a survey. The survey utilized a quantitative approach that included eight multiple-choice questions and two open-ended questions. The purpose of the survey is to inquire about their viewpoints and involve the personnel in the design of the TyHy-day.
The theoretical framework of the thesis contains key concepts and theories of well-being, including work well-being, employee well-being, promoting well-being, work motivation and Tyhy and TyKy-day. The study concludes with recommendations for planning a TyHy-day that can make the day more meaningful.
The findings revealed that it is impossible to design a perfect TyHy-day for the entire personnel of Hoas, however, the purpose of the day is to create a meaningful TyHy-day to support individuals’ well-being. Employees value inclusion, accessibility, flexibility and opportunities from TyHy-day. These findings offer valuable information for HR professionals when planning an impactful and inclusive TyHy-day.
