This thesis was commissioned by Etteplan. The goal of this thesis was to create guidelines and a checklist for drafting layout, lifting and installation drawings. These guidelines are intended for the mechanical design team to help establish consistent and unified way for drafting.
An initial review was conducted on the company’s existing technical drawing guidelines, related documentation, relevant literature and online sources. As available information proved limited, interviews with colleagues were significant source of information.
The thesis first provides an overview of technical drawings in general, followed by a more detailed examination of the specific drawing types. The outcome of the work is a set of practical guidelines, and a checklist designed to standardise and improve drafting of layout, lifting and installation drawings.
