Tiivistelmä
This thesis investigates how the case company can enhance digitalized project delivery by leveraging the Installation Execution System (IES) and Task Configurator (TACO). It addresses the company’s strategic goal of improving the efficiency, quality, and standardization of installation operations. The study is set within the broader context of increasing global demand for operational excellence and digital transformation in the electrical equipment and machinery sectors. The focus is on the Swedish frontline, where IES was piloted in the first quarter of 2025 to evaluate its practical applicability and business value.

The study applies an action research methodology, combining stakeholder interviews, document analysis, and field observations. Data were collected in three phases: the current state analysis of installation workflows, the examination of a structured IES deployment in Sweden, and the proposal building and validation of the proposal. The research design enabled iterative development and real-time testing of improvements in digital tool integration and project delivery.

The thesis includes both theoretical and practical components. The literature review explores digital transformation in operations management, lean principles, and change management in digital tool deployment. The practical part analyzes existing installation processes, the IES and TACO frameworks, and reports on the results of the Swedish pilot deployment. Key focus areas include workflow planning, deviation handling, installation quality assurance, and the integration of IES into daily field routines through a sprint-based deployment model.

The outcome is a proposal for scaling IES across the case company’s operations, featuring improvements in planning, quality control, dashboard use, and structured coaching. The thesis delivers a structured set of deployment guidelines to support global implementation. Expected business impacts include improved workflow visibility, reduced manual coordination, enhanced quality tracking, and stronger cross-functional collaboration. The proposal offers a scalable roadmap for accelerating digital transformation in project delivery and achieving long-term gains in operational efficiency.
