Public sector organization has started a journey from On-Premises datacenter to cloud platforms. The goal of this thesis was to describe what the organization's future data backup strategy and architecture should look like and what practices should be followed.
The thesis was started by assessing the current situation and interviewing stakeholders. Several options were analyzed and researched before proposing solutions. During the planning process, design decisions were made and solutions suggested.
One of the key findings is that distributed data backup architecture is more suitable for modern IT infrastructure. Also delegating more responsibility to application owners with data backup templates and policies brings flexibility and efficiency.
