The aim of this thesis is to investigate how to improve performance in engineering and construction projects, especially in Iranian EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects by using Building In-formation Modelling (BIM). The aim of this study is to understand the current use of BIM and identify how it can be better implemented to solve project challenges such as time delays, cost overruns and communication issues.
The research methodology includes quantitively data collection. Data were collected through questionnaire with experts in Iranian EPC companies and analyzed.
The results show that BIM can significantly help in improving coordination, reducing errors and increasing efficiency in construction projects. However, many companies still face barriers such as lack of training, high implementation costs and resistance to change.
The practical value of this thesis is that it provides useful recommendations for companies that want to use BIM more effectively. The thesis emphasizes the importance of training, management support, and technical infrastructure. The findings can help EPC companies in developing countries improve their project outcomes and move towards digital transformation in the construction industry.
