Tiivistelmä
This thesis focuses on two ecommerce projects implemented by the case company: migration to a new ecommerce platform and the launch of the integrated second-hand online store. The objective of this thesis is to develop a launch plan for the integration of a second-hand online store based on the lessons learnt from the migration project conducted earlier.
The study is based on Applied action research methodology. Data was collected primarily via interviews with stakeholders involved in the platform migration and second-hand online store projects, analysis of internal documents and participant observations. The theoretical framework focused on the best practices on data migration, development of migration plans and recommerce solutions.
The analysis of the multifaceted migration project revealed the steps and the possible bottlenecks in implementing the next digital project in the case company. The initial proposal for the second-hand store launch consists of evaluating the migration plan, identifying future improvement areas, and creating a launch plan for the second-hand online store (divided into sections describing before the launch stage, pre-launch preparation, go-live, post-launch).
The outcome of the thesis is a step-by-step proposal for a launch plan that was validated via conducting a pilot in a selected market. The final proposal can be used by the case company as a practical guide for future second-hand store launches in other markets or as a reference for similar projects by the case company to widen its digital offerings.
