The focus of this thesis is to create a high quality three dimensional humanoid character, suitable for use in games and animations. The games development and animation industry follow standardised workflows when creating three dimensional characters. This thesis reports on the steps that are often taken in the standardised workflows followed by games development and animation companies.
This thesis assesses some of the software applications which are used in the games development and animation industry. When assessing these applications, the tools and functions which are most relevant to creating three dimensional characters are reviewed. The most remarkable applications are then used to create a three dimensional character.
Some of the applications which are used in this thesis can be used on their own to create three dimensional characters. This thesis uses many applications in combination with each other, to take advantage of their most unique features and functionality. Using many applications in combination, a high quality three dimensional character is created. The character is then made ready for use for games and animations.
The workflow demonstrated in this thesis can be followed to create life like digital avatars and high quality characters for games and animations.
