Tiivistelmä
This thesis discusses the of AI-based support for Economic integration on asylum seekers and more specifically Arabic speaking asylum seekers in Finland. The case company is a nonprofit organization that supports newcomers and takes into consideration the situation of vulnerable newcomers who are asylum seekers. Even though the company and other organizations provide services for newcomers, there are still many asylum seekers and former asylum seekers who cannot find work that is aligned with their expertise or sometimes they cannot find work at all. Therefore, this thesis highlights the importance of AI in economic integration and tries to diminish the gap and fasten the process of employment.
Applied action research is used in supporting the qualitative research and developing an AI-based support framework for economic integration of asylum seekers, especially the Arabic speaking ones, in Finland. The theoretical framework is based on discussing available knowledge and practices on the use of AI tools for economic integration “use cases”. It is followed by the current state analysis, and then the initial proposal building. The proposal includes three main themes that play a big role in economic integration: employment, skill development, and entrepreneurship support. The initial proposal building ends with the validation of the proposal by the key expert from the case company.
The outcome of this thesis provides a framework for asylum seekers on how to find information regarding economic integration, especially the employment opportunities. The thesis outcome is an AI based support framework that is meant to provide help to asylum seekers’ economic integration in Finland. The outcome is important for the case company since it should help the case company in integration of asylum seekers, specifically those who speak Arabic.
