Tiivistelmä
This thesis seeks to enhance ISO 14001 compliance and operational transparency by developing a digital dashboard with key environmental performance metrics such as emissions, energy usage and waste indicators available. The case company, Goodwood Shipmanagement, was interested in examining how to present an ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) in a dashboard. The goal was to develop the ISO 14001 dashboard prototype that would make data flow and reports better, enhance reporting, and support proactive environmental management.

The study used applied action research and qualitative research methods. Data collection included document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and a workshop with the HSQEEn manager and Technical Fleet Manager. This analysis identified problems especially relevant to inconsistent data and a lack of comprehensive and systematic approach to make a straightforward to check and evaluation of environmental performance.

The theoretical framework and development of the dashboard were constructed to agree with best industry practice including IMO DCS, BIMCO, and ISO 14001. The conceptual framework determined four areas of development; these areas informed the method of creating a dashboard.

The outcome of the thesis is the ISO 14001 dashboard prototype that makes data flow better, makes reports better, enhances reporting, and encourages proactive environmental management. Its implementation should improve data visibility and provide useful information about compliance and reaching sustainability goals. Furthermore, using a dashboard should enhances the efficiency of relevant shipping operations and help protect the environment by complying with environmental protection.
