Organizational culture (OC) has become an important subject within Human Resource Management (HRM). Despite advancements like Edgar Schein's layered model and the Competing Values Framework (CVF), OC is still poorly understood and addressed. The purpose of this research was to develop a practical tool for assessing and enhancing OC to help increase OC’s profile and make addressing OC issues easier and more effective. The theoretical foundations of the tool are the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) and leadership principles from Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.
This thesis was product-based and adopted a constructive research approach. This thesis involved literature review, adapted an existing tool, and designed a framework, without collecting empirical data.
The practical tool, the Integrated Culture Diagnosis and Leadership Action Tool (ICDLAT), was created, blending OCAI diagnostics with remediation strategies based on the aforementioned leadership principles of Willink and Babin. It also includes a hypothetical case, showing that such tools are useful for ongoing cultural alignment and resilience.
