The purpose of this thesis was to examine the idea of importing alcoholic beverages from Vietnam to Finland, to analyse the possibility and the challenges that affect alcohol import business, also providing recommendations for further research of this business concept.
This thesis employs qualitative research method, which interviews were conducted to get the information from the bar manager, contact people of alcohol companies and wine expert from Haaga Helia University of Applied Sciences. Additional data were also collected from various organizations, such as Valvira, the National Health and Welfare Agency of Finland. The main research had shown that 98 percent of restaurants bought alcohol directly from the importers and wholesalers. Alcoholic products from within Europe were delivered by road or railway, while products from overseas were delivered by boat, and shipping time of products from some countries and regions like New Zealand and California can be up to three months, the delivery process were handled by third party couriers. About packaging material, most importers only supply glass bottles.
Finally, the study had analysed the process of importing alcoholic beverages to Finland and how Finnish alcohol market operated. However, to import Vietnamese alcohols to Finland, some additional researches were required and the author had outlined the suggestions for further research.
