Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis is to identify and recommend the most suitable Human Resource Information System (HRIS) for a global IT company to streamline its HR operations and support across its global offices. The study was initiated in response to challenges caused by manual HR processes, fragmented data, and limited transparency in areas such as performance management, leave and attendance, payroll and employee database management. The goal was to develop a proposal for implementing a modern integrated HRIS aligned with the company’s goals.

The study used the applied action research approach. Data were collected through stakeholder interviews with the company’s senior management and key HR personnel across multiple country offices, as well as internal document analysis. The theoretical framework focused on the topics of HRIS selection and implementation, emphasizing system functionalities, evaluation criteria and formulating an evaluation matrix.

The current state analysis identified the challenges, inefficiencies and stakeholder requirements. Using an evaluation matrix based on functional and strategic criteria, seven HRIS tools were assessed and scored. The proposal was then developed and presented to management, followed by the evaluation and validation of shortlisted HRIS solutions.

The outcome of the thesis is the selection of Product 7, which is an internally developed HRIS solution as the most appropriate and affordable system for the company. The validation phase confirmed its suitability with recommendations for further development to meet regional needs, enhance integration and strengthen analytics and reporting features. The results of this thesis provide the company with a clear roadmap toward HR digitalization, supporting operational efficiency, compliance and data-driven decision-making across its global structure.
