Tiivistelmä
The thesis presents a business plan for a beach and ocean-themed café in Helsinki. This café concept addresses significant societal challenges in Finland, such as the rise in loneliness, mental health concerns, and an increasing focus on sustainability. The business plan shows how small businesses can include sustainability, inclusion, and community-building in their operations. The goal of the thesis is to create a realistic and feasible business plan. No primary research, like interviews or surveys, is conducted.

The theoretical framework discusses the structure and purpose of business plans. It also covers the tools used in planning, such as SWOT analysis, the ESG framework, competitor analysis, and financial calculation methods. Research on loneliness and mental wellbeing in Finland, the third-place theory, and social entrepreneurship is included to support the café concept. Työmarkkinatori’s business plan template, tailored to the Finnish context, is used in the planning process. All financial calculations are made using the Business Helsinki financial template.

The thesis relies on qualitative desk research, using statistics and reports. The result is a detailed 38+8-page business plan that outlines the café’s concept, products and services, marketing and customer acquisition, target market, operations, corporate responsibility, risk management, future development, and financial feasibility. The findings suggest that a concept focused on social inclusion, wellbeing, and sustainable practices could be successful in the Helsinki market. However, its feasibility depends on factors like cost structure, location, and marketing effectiveness. The thesis demonstrates that sustainability and social value can be integrated into a small business model and how this concept may serve as a basis for further development and practical implementation.
