The main objective of the study is to investigate how “waterless innovations” in the beauty industry can reduce water consumption (water footprint) and promote environmental sustainability. The study considered scientific discussions on water-related production processes, water footprint, circular economy models, and “green chemical” innovations. Primary data were collected through Google Forms. This examined consumers´ understanding, trust, and behaviour towards “eco-friendly” products.
Scientific articles, reports, and online resources were used as secondary data for analytical pert and the literature review. Research results show that although consumers are interested in eco-friendly innovations, due to price, label trust, and lack of accurate information, this does not translate into actual habits.
This revealed a consumer paradox that can be called the “Attitude Behaviour Gap”. Therefore, this study suggests that commercial institutions, government, and consumers must work together to achieve true sustainable innovation.
