Tiivistelmä
Tässä opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin mahdollisuutta parantaa varaosakirjoissa esiintyviä lisähuomautuksia sekä harmonisoida varaosakirjojen tekoa tiimien välillä tämän opinnäytetyön ohjekirjan avulla. Samalla myös tutkittiin mahdollisuutta käyttää yksinkertaistettua teknistä englantia varaosakirjoissa ymmärrettävyyden parantamiseksi.
Aineistona käytettiin lähtökohtaisesti tietoja työpaikan sisältä sekä ulkoisia lähteitä mahdollisuuksien mukaan. Kuitenkaan kovin montaa ulkoista lähdettä ei ollut saatavilla, eikä esimerkkitapauksia ollut, joiden pohjalta tutkimuskysymystä olisi voinut alkaa tarkastella, joten suurin osa työstä täytyi vertaisarvioida työpaikan sisällä.
Organisaation odottamattomien olosuhteiden muuttumisen takia lopputulos oli suunniteltua suppeampi ja osa tavoitteista jäi saavuttamatta. Kuitenkin tavoitteet, jotka saavutettiin, antoivat lupaavia tuloksia ja olivat erittäin hyvät, sillä lisähuomautuksien määrää onnistuttiin vähentämään huomattavasti. Myös yksinkertaistettu tekninen englanti antoi lupaavia tuloksia ymmärrettävyyden parantamisessa, vaikka varaosakirjoissa ei ole paljoa tekstiä. Vaikka projektin täyttä potentiaalia ei saavutettu, projektilla on mahdollisuus jatkua tulevaisuudessa, jolloin loputkin tavoitteista voidaan saavuttaa. In this thesis the possibility of improving the notes found in spare part catalogues was investigated as well as the possibility of harmonising the creation process between teams with a guideline made in this thesis. Also, the usage of Simplified Technical English in SPC was investigated to better the understandability of text.
Most of the data used in this thesis was internal, external sources were used if possible. However, external sources were scarce and there were no similar case studies to be used as examples when starting to study the research question, therefore most of the work had to be peer reviewed within the workplace.
Due to unexpected circumstances in the organisation, the final result was narrower than initially planned and some of the goals were not achieved. However, the goals that were achieved gave promising results and were very good, as the number of notes was reduced considerably. Also, Simplified Technical English gave promising results in improving understandability, even though the spare part catalogues do not contain that much text. Despite the project’s full potential not being realized, it has the possibility to be continued in the future, allowing the remaining goals to be achieved.
