Tiivistelmä
Nepal's rich cultural and natural inheritance, which includes UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ancient structures, festivals, and living traditions, has been recognized as an essential component of tourism development.
The research intended to explore the role of cultural heritage in promoting tourism in Nepal and to identify
solutions to enhance tourist growth through preservation and development. The objectives were established to find out the role of cultural heritage in tourism promotion and to give some ideas on how to use
tourism potential to the full by protecting heritage.
The author used a quantitative method for the research, and data were gathered through an online, structured survey from respondents knowledgeable about cultural and tourism activities.
The data were collected from primary sources using online platforms to distribute a survey that gathered
55 responses from different stakeholders, such as local business owners, citizens, and heritage site officials.
Statistical methods were used to analyze the data and give descriptive results. The findings revealed that
respondents were well familiar with and frequently visited cultural heritage locations. Cultural heritage
tourism proved to be the primary source of visitors, with the main reasons for attendance being festivals,
religious significance, and architectural beauty.
Furthermore, cultural tourism was believed to benefit local economic development and heritage preservation, but improvements in infrastructure, stakeholder cooperation, and tourist experiences were highlighted. It was determined that cultural heritage is a critical component of Nepal's tourist attractiveness and
economic development.
Recommendations included better coordination among key stakeholders, including the government, local
communities, and tourism businesses, so that cultural sites can be managed and promoted more effectively. Improving infrastructure at heritage sites, such as access roads, visitor facilities, and safety measures, would also enhance the visitor experience and encourage more frequent visits.
