Tiivistelmä
The role of artificial intelligence (Al) in healthcare setting is rapidly growing, increasingly influencing the daily work of nurses. This scoping review focuses on exploring the usage of Al in nursing, especially in its benefits and challenges. The aim for this review is to provide an overview of the usage of Al in nursing and identify areas for future research.

This scoping review followed the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines and used PRISMA ScR framework. Searches were conducted in PubMed, CINAHL and ScienceDirect. In total, 525 records were identified, of which 20 studies were selected. Data from the included studies were extracted and analysed using the inductive content analysis method, after which it was organized into meaning units, sub categories and broader themes based on the research questions.

The results showed that Al may benefit nursing practice in multiple ways. It supports clinical judgement, improves patient safety and the efficiency of workflows and enables to more efficient communication within care teams. On the other hand, ethical and legal concerns, limited training amongst professionals and uncertainty about how Al may affect nursing roles were discussed in the selected studies. Reliability of the data, protection of patient privacy and the extent to which these systems can be trusted were themes that were additionally seen as challenges.

We draw the conclusion that Al shows significant potential in enhancing many aspects of nursing practice, but its successful use depends on the way it is implemented. Clear governance, sufficient training and organizational support are essential factors in successful implementation. Al should be viewed as a supportive tool that works alongside nurses rather than to replace them.
