Tiivistelmä
Tämä tutkielma on kirjoitettu osana Turun ammattikorkeakoulun tanssinopettajakoulutuksen (AMK) taiteellista opinnäytetyötä. Taiteellinen osa on soolokoreografia ”ice (CR)”.
Opinnäytetyön kirjallisessa osassa kirjoittaja tutkii, miten tanssiteoksen voi luoda tieteellisen tutkimustiedon pohjalta. Teoksen tietopohjaksi valikoitui ilmastonmuutos, sen vaikutukset arktiseen alueeseen ja siellä eläviin jääkarhuihin. Koreografisessa prosessissa käytetään Labanin liikeanalyysia, jääkarhun liikkeen jäljittelyä ja kirjoittajan omien kokemusten kautta syntyneitä liikekokeiluja.
Ensimmäisessä luvussa kirjoittaja avaa teoksensa tietopohjaa ilmastonmuutoksesta, arktisesta alueesta ja jääkarhuista. Luvussa myös kerrotaan keinoja ilmastonmuutoksen hillitsemiseen. Toisessa luvussa kirjoittaja avaa koreografisen työskentelynsä teoriaa, johon sisältyy koreografian aiheen tutkiminen, tanssin kommunikaation mahdollisuudet ja Labanin liikeanalyysi. Viimeisessä luvussa kirjoittaja havainnoi tanssiteoksen koreografista prosessia ja avaa teoksen lähtökohtia sekä tavoitteita. Kirjoittaja esittelee myös keinoja, joilla tutkimustieto on sisällytetty tanssiteokseen, ja perustelee, miksi kyseinen teos on luotu.
Lopuksi kirjoittaja kokoaa tutkielmansa tulokset, joista todetaan, että koreografia on mahdollista luoda tutkimustiedon pohjalta. Koeyleisön avulla pystytään myös selvittämään, pystyykö haluttua tietoa välittämään katsojalle, ja millaisia vaikutuksia sillä on katsojaan. Koeyleisön palautteen perusteella on voitu päätellä, että tanssiteos on onnistunut välittämään koreografin haluaman viestin. Loppuluvussa kirjoittaja myös pohtii koko taiteellisen opinnäytetyön vaikutusta kirjoittajan identiteettiin taiteen tekijänä, ja miten kirjoittaja jatkaisi tulevaisuudessa työtään tanssin ammattilaisena.
Opinnäytetyön kirjallisessa osiossa kirjoittaja on hyödyntänyt pääasiallisina lähteinään Soili Hämäläisen väitöskirjaa Koreografian opetus- ja oppimisprosesseista, Maailman luonnonsäätiön sivustoa ja Irmgard Bartenieffin Body Movement: Coping with the environment. This study is written as a partial fulfillment of the Dance Teacher Degree / Bachelor of Dance, at the Turku University of Applied Sciences, Ltd. The artistic choreographic part of the degree is a solo performance work “ice (CR)”.
This thesis is focused on an approach to choreographic work through evidence based scientific information. In this thesis the target of the research is polar bears and the change in their living conditions due to global warming. The thesis discusses the approach to choreography through scientific topic and the theory of Rudolf Laban’s Movement Analysis. The author explores Laban Movement Analysis as a tool to study the movement of polar bears.
This study examines including scientific data into choreographic work and forwarding the data through the performance to the audience. The challenge is to include the data into the choreographic piece and mould the material into an understandable form. The author researches communication of the choreographic piece by performing it to the test audience. The feedback from the audience showed that the choreographic piece succeeded in forwarding the data.
The thesis includes information about climate change and its impact on the arctic area and polar bears. In the third chapter the author explores a choreography’s topic, dance’s communication and the theory of Laban Movement Analysis. The fourth chapter of the written research is a process description of the author's own choreographic work. At the end of the study the author concludes that the methods that were used were important in the choreographic process with this creative performance work. The thesis concludes with the writer’s final thoughts regarding the whole creative process and the author’s progress as a dance artist and how the author would continue working with this topic in the future.
Soili Hämäläinen’s Koreografian opetus- ja oppimisprosesseista, World Wide Fund for Nature website and Irmgard Bartenieff’s Body Movement: Coping with the environment have been used as the primary sources in this study.
Opinnäytetyön kirjallisessa osassa kirjoittaja tutkii, miten tanssiteoksen voi luoda tieteellisen tutkimustiedon pohjalta. Teoksen tietopohjaksi valikoitui ilmastonmuutos, sen vaikutukset arktiseen alueeseen ja siellä eläviin jääkarhuihin. Koreografisessa prosessissa käytetään Labanin liikeanalyysia, jääkarhun liikkeen jäljittelyä ja kirjoittajan omien kokemusten kautta syntyneitä liikekokeiluja.
